Bacopa Monnieri Extract in Neuro Mind Pro: 100 mg, Studied Amounts and Cautions

Quick answer

Bacopa monnieri extract is the second line on the Neuro Mind Pro label image, at 100 mg per capsule. Public sources describe typical amounts of 300 to 600 mg a day, and the label prints no bacoside percentage. No study tested this product. Bacopa has medicine cautions, so ask a pharmacist.

The line01

What is bacopa monnieri extract in Neuro Mind Pro?

Bacopa monnieri extract is a plant extract and the second line on the label image supplied to us. It is listed at 100 mg per capsule, with no Daily Value established, no bacoside percentage and no plant part named.

Bacopa monnieri is a creeping herb used for a long time in traditional medicine. StatPearls, a clinical reference, describes extracts that are usually standardized to 24% to 55% bacosides, the group of compounds often used to mark an extract's strength (StatPearls, Bacopa monnieri). Our label image prints no such percentage, so a reader cannot tell how strong the 100 mg extract is.

The brand says the product is designed to support “cognitive function and mental clarity”. That is the brand's wording. We found no study of this product, and the public sources we cite for bacopa are about safety and amounts, not about a result we can promise.

Studied amounts02

How does 100 mg of bacopa compare with amounts in the sources?

StatPearls gives 300 to 450 mg a day of extract (StatPearls, Bacopa monnieri), and LiverTox says the typical dose is 300 to 600 mg of the extract daily (LiverTox, Bacopa monnieri). The label amount is lower than the amounts described in these sources.

By arithmetic, 100 mg is 22% to 33% of 300 to 450 mg, and 17% to 33% of 300 to 600 mg. Neither source gives trial durations in the passages we read. The sources describe products of varied strength, and the label does not tell us this one's. Lower does not mean safer or useless; it means the comparison is open.

  1. The comparison. A 2022 review says a common BCAA supplement amount is 10 to 20 g a day. The bar uses the low end, 10 g. At 20 g the label amount is 1.35%. (Holeček 2022, Side Effects of Amino Acid Supplements)

Read it with care. The studied amount comes from a different product, group and time span. It is not a recommended or effective dose, and no trial tested Neuro Mind Pro.

  2. The comparison. StatPearls gives 300 to 450 mg a day of extract and LiverTox gives 300 to 600 mg. The bar uses 300 mg, the low end of both. The label amount is 22% to 33% of 300 to 450 mg. (StatPearls, Bacopa monnieri) (LiverTox, Bacopa monnieri)

Read it with care. The studied amount comes from a different product, group and time span. It is not a recommended or effective dose, and no trial tested Neuro Mind Pro.

  3. The comparison. LiverTox gives a recommended daily range from about 100 mg to over 1,000 mg depending on product form and use. The bar uses the low end, 100 mg. (LiverTox, Ginseng)

Read it with care. The studied amount comes from a different product, group and time span. It is not a recommended or effective dose, and no trial tested Neuro Mind Pro.

Each full bar is the daily amount used in the one study or reference we cite. The filled part is the label amount per capsule, set against the low end of the range the source gives. Rhodiola and L-theanine have no bar: the pages we cite give no studied amount. Extract types and standardization differ between studies and the label, so even this comparison is rough, and a studied amount is not a recommended one.

Side effects03

What are the side effects of bacopa?

The common effects are digestive: more frequent stools, nausea and abdominal cramps (StatPearls, Bacopa monnieri). LiverTox adds gas, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, insomnia and rash, with rates similar to placebo in small trials (LiverTox, Bacopa monnieri).

LiverTox scores bacopa category E, meaning it is an unlikely cause of liver injury, and says the extract has not been linked to raised liver enzymes (LiverTox, Bacopa monnieri). That is a statement about liver safety in the cases reviewed. It does not clear every person or every product.

Medicines04

Does bacopa interact with medicines?

It may. StatPearls says bacopa inhibits human CYP450 enzymes in studies, may add to cholinergic drugs, may reduce the effect of anticholinergic drugs such as atropine, and calls for caution or avoidance with thyroid conditions or thyroid medicine, based on animal findings (StatPearls, Bacopa monnieri).

CYP450 enzymes help the liver process many medicines, so a change in them can matter. We found no source that calls bacopa safe with medicines, and we do not either. We found no pregnancy or breastfeeding statement for bacopa in the sources we fetched, so we give none beyond the label caution: pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition should consult a physician.

The medicine check turns this into eight yes or no questions.

Unknowns05

What do we not know about bacopa in Neuro Mind Pro?

We do not know the bacoside content, the plant part, how the extract was made or whether bacopa behaves the same alongside the other four lines. No source we read tests the combination.

  1. The strength

The label gives milligrams of extract, not of bacosides. Two 100 mg extracts can differ widely.

  2. The combination

Bacopa, rhodiola, L-theanine, ginseng and BCAAs were not tested together in the sources we cite.

  3. The outcome

NCCIH says there is a lack of direct evidence that supplements can prevent dementia (NCCIH, 7 Things To Know About Dietary Supplements for Cognitive Function, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease), and its page does not cover bacopa.

A supplement is not a treatment. Memory worries can have treatable causes, including depression, drug reactions and thyroid, liver or kidney problems (NCCIH, 7 Things To Know About Dietary Supplements for Cognitive Function, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease), and a doctor can check for them.

Next step06

FAQ07

Neuro Mind Pro questions people ask

How much bacopa is in Neuro Mind Pro?

The label image supplied to us lists 100 mg of Bacopa monnieri extract per capsule. It prints no bacoside percentage and no plant part.

Is 100 mg of bacopa enough?

No source says. StatPearls describes 300 to 450 mg a day and LiverTox 300 to 600 mg, so the label amount is lower than those amounts. No study tested this product.

What are bacopa side effects?

Common effects are digestive, such as more frequent stools, nausea and cramps. LiverTox adds gas, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, insomnia and rash, at rates similar to placebo in small trials.

Does bacopa interact with medicines?

It may. StatPearls names CYP450 enzyme inhibition, cholinergic and anticholinergic drugs, and thyroid medicine. Show the label to a pharmacist before the first capsule.

Can bacopa harm the liver?

LiverTox rates it category E, an unlikely cause of liver injury, and reports no link to raised liver enzymes. That does not clear every person.

Is bacopa safe in pregnancy?

We found no pregnancy statement in the sources we fetched. The label image tells pregnant or nursing mothers to consult a physician.

Does bacopa improve memory?

We found no study of this product, so we make no such claim. NCCIH's page on cognition does not cover bacopa.
